I am currently no more directly involved in medical stock issues, but would you like to provide more information about the new Open Source strategy of the South African Governement. When the South African Governement spend some public money for healthcare software developements, are you really allowed to require that all the results must become public domain knowledge, including source and documentation ?
Stock management is an issue which implies a lot of integration with other modules of the the hospital. Let we look alone at the pharmacy related services in a well integrated hospital !
I think that one of the key issues in the roadmap toward Open Source collaborations, would be a clear definition of one would expect a "medical stock" or "resource management" component should looks like.
I believe we need a very modular "component based" approach, as far as possible independent of the software environment.
Which "objects", with which attributes and properties, would you like to have in Open source ?
Currently I am seeking international contacts in the field of Primary Care and distributed networks. see our project at : http://www.crisnet.be/index-uk.html Do you see contacts with South African GP organisations, who could be interested ?
