Just amazing: http://www.linuxmednews.com/linuxmednews/1066139498/index_htmlNot really so amazing, money talks. The one thing FOSS does not have going for it is the kind lobbying that only those with lots of money can afford. This creates a kind of 'club' atmosphere that becomes awfully hard to resist for decision makers.

Now, most of you that are programming types or engineering types may not have experience of the 'club', but anyone in senior management or the kind of socio-economic status that US physicians have will have had that experience.
The club creates peer pressure and going against it will start to isolate you as an individual. At the end of the day, most of the decision makers have no stake in technology. It is viewed as a purchaseable commodity and you either have enough money to buy it or not. If the rest of your 'club' is doing X, why should you think about doing Y? IF you don't have enough money, maybe there is something wrong with you?
