I *can* do anything. But since Andreas is the maintainer of the
Debian-Med project...it kind of matters what he decides......in this
case he decided that even though there would be no conflict between the
various Zope Products I use and any others on the Debian-Med platform he
would not package TORCH as a part of Debian Med because it doesn't
adhere to the ethos of Debian Med that there shall only be one package
of anything in a distribution. In fact you can have many copies and
various versions of Zope/Plone running without interaction or
interference.

He also will not abide by the decisions of the FHS
(http://www.pathname.com/fhs/) in deciding where to place files on the
distribution. According to Debian Med (and Andreas) there is not such
thing as the /opt directory and therefore the LANANA
(http://www.lanana.org/) decisions are not valid for Debian Med. This
makes it kind of difficult to build a package.

True. But I get to make the decision which I use in TORCH......he gets
to make the decision how to run the Debian Med distribution. From my
perspective he is hurting the chances of building the distribution he
wants to build.

Really? Is there a Debian Med distribution for download that contains
these packages? I'm sorry, I looked as late as this afternoon and found
no such distribution nor even any "firm list" of packages planned for
distribution that have met Andreas requirements. Can you provide a
link?

I have always thought this would be a wonderful project. Certainly a
Knoppix distribution with the many applications listed at:
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-med/ would be a great tool to
distribute at various trade shows etc.

Cheers,
Tim
