Hi,

(1) If you have checked out code via svn co command, svn co
https://openhpi.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/openhpi/openhpi/tags/release_1_0_2
openhpi-1.0.2, there is BigBuild script does all the building for you.
In effect, BigBuild does ./nukem.sh;
./bootstrap; ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc $...@. This code works ok
with
up-to-date automake and autoconf. BUT it will not build with newer gcc
version. For example with gcc (GCC) 4.3.0, automake (GNU automake)
1.10.1, autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.61 yields the following errors,

printevent_utils.c: In function 'ShowSel':
printevent_utils.c:624: error: pointer targets in assignment differ in
signedness
printevent_utils.c:636: error: pointer targets in assignment differ in
signedness
make[3]: *** [printevent_utils.lo] Error 1
make[3]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
mv -f .deps/ecode_utils.Tpo .deps/ecode_utils.Plo

(2) If you get release_1_0_2 code in tarball format, then you follow
Bryan's recommendation below: ./configure; make. Then again you will run
into build issues with later versions of gcc.

If you are using a released tar file, you do not need to run bootstrap,
just "./configure".

"bootstrap" does not produce an "openhpi.spec" file. It is produced by
the "configure" script.

Which version of autoconf and automake are you using? This process has
been working fine for a large number of people. Perhaps the problem is
that you are using a very old version of source code, which is not
compatible with your version of the autotools.

Are you getting the same problem with a more recent version of OpenHPI?
Please check the dependencies in the README file if you are having
trouble with a new version.

Best regards,
Bryan Sutula
