Greeting again -- Anton Pak has found and fixed the issues related to the 'make distcheck' failures. Except for known bugs, as far as I can tell, everything is running properly on the latest top-of-trunk (7110) - and I'd like to propose the following check-in policies/activities/schedule going into the 2.15.0 release:
1. Uli's change set for the OpenHPI clients is the last big commit. I will be testing these changes tomorrow (Wed 6/16). 2. For the rest of this week, and all of next week - only bug fixes and very minor (i.e., very low risk) enhancements are allowed. 3. Prior to committing changes, and in addition to having all changes peer-reviewed, it would be really great if developers ran "make distcheck" as a sanity test to make sure their change(s) do not cause a regression in this important release tool. Prior to commiting a change: Just run: make dist; make distcheck 4. If developers want to get more aggressive about testing - I'd recommend running the hpitest conformance suite. It's easy and quick to run. See instructions below. 5. The week of June 28 (Mon) - we will make final preparations for the 2.15.0 release - assuming the OpenHPI trunk is stable enough on June 28. Let me know your thoughts on this. Note: I will be out the week of Jun 21 - 25 (next week) - but bug fixing should proceed without me - and hopefully everything continues to work as well, or better than, revision 7110. --michael To run hpitest conformance suite: svn co https://hpib-test.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/hpib-test/trunk hpib-test cd hpib-test aclocal; autoheader; automake; autoconf ./configure make /etc/init.d/openhpid start # remember to configure openhpi.conf for the plugin you want to test, # and to remove the OPENHPI_UNCONFIGURED variable. ./hpitest # this starts the test suite # test results summary printed at end of test run, and in the "log" file. Currently we have in 7110: 19 failures for the old simulator 8 failures for the new dynamic_simulator 16 failures for the oa_soap plugin > -----Original Message----- > From: Bishop, Michael (ISB Linux/Telco) > Sent: Tuesday, June 15, 2010 10:17 AM > To: '[email protected]' > Subject: make distcheck failures on svn trunk > > > Greetings to all OpenHPI developers -- > > Here's what is going on as we march to the 2.15.0 release: > > The conformance tests are looking pretty good - however - we > are having a difficult problem with 'make distcheck' which is > a tool that we use during release management to ensure the > quality of the final released OpenHPI source.
