Ok I did some more testing and yes grouping our base layers was quite
faster.. but on initial load. When I try to zoom into the map it still takes
the same amount of time.. sometimes even longer to redraw the one layer of
groups. Panning however is much faster so that fixes that.. I will just have
to figure out if it is possible to use EXT/GeoExt layerlists to still show
individual layers even if they are grouped. Is there anything I can do to
increase performance for zooming or is tilecaching really the only thing
that's going to work?
