The "openldap-stable" directory is historic and was retired nearly a decade
ago. It is left for historic purposes.

Nothing on the roadmap says that 2.5 is not a stable release.
I'm literally the release engineer for the OpenLDAP project
(<https://www.openldap.org/project/>). I'm telling you two things:
a) 2.4 is historic and no longer supported.
b) 2.5 is the current stable release.
