First of all, changing messagebox style won’t affect media playback in anyway – everything works the same.
OpenLP is usually the only software used during the service and thus it is likely the only software to trigger any system sounds at all. (Or at least 90% of them) If you think this from user point of view, they probably don’t expect OpenLP to make any additional sounds during service, and if they hear them they may think its OpenLP:s fault. Can you trigger any system error sounds with PowerPoint or Impress? Just like them, quality presentation software like OpenLP should stay silent. I still agree that users should mute their system sounds, yes it is something we should suggest. Then again that is assuming: a) User reads user manual | Tunes in for blog | Understand English b) Understands this is a problem | Does not think it’s just “Normal” behavior c) Thinks it is possible to change how program works d) Feels comfortable to tweak their system settings e) Simply cares enough I feel like majority of users don’t have enough interest/time or technical knowledge to do anything about it. If we really want to use ! icon instead of ? icon in some boxes, it may be possible by using seticon(), as mentioned on the drive doc. Is it possible this could benefit users? Would this make OpenLP a better program to use? If so, does it break anything? If not, why not to change it? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of OpenLP Core, which is subscribed to OpenLP. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507212 Title: Messagebox sounds Status in OpenLP: New Bug description: Please see the link for description. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k7P1_aS24Ch441VX2uoWqXQDLgeDVoEqJfcc-HLeKCI/edit?usp=sharing Short version: Messageboxes trigger system sounds, please mute them.
