First, configure SNMP read-only access with a communit of your choice. This
should be a good start for your cisco 2950

If you're done, test SNMP from your OpenNMS machine with
snmpwalk -v 2c -c <your-readonly-community> <your-cisco-ip>
Add the Community to OpenNMS
Admin --> Configure SNMP Community Names by IP
Fill out the form, at minimum "First IP Adress" and "Community String". Go to
Admin --> Add Interface and put in the cisco ip address.
Wait a few minutes and hopefully you'll a monitored Cisco device.
