The only support that I know of on renesas parts is on windows. Renesas does 
have some low cost debuggers (minicube2 for NEC) but it is only for windows.
It works fine under virtual box. Someone would have to reverse engineer it to 
add support under Linux.

If I had information on the debugging protocol in minicube2 I would be willing 
to add support for OpenOCD. Renesas is tight on the information.
