No I do not think it is your responsibility. But somehow you think it will only be you to fix it. In the following thread, http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.debugging.openocd.devel/20586 you wrote: "You know just as well as I do that the only patch for this that "we" will get will have to come from me, since noone else seems to really care much about it." > The fact that the code got included even though the problems had > already been mentioned means that really noone else cares about > them. > > That's why I personally believe that they will not be fixed by > someone else. Of course I hope I'm wrong on that, but I have no > expectations. Let me step back, is the current codes (user can choose libusb-1.0 and libusb-0.1) worse than before (using only libusb-0.1 API)? Please also do not lump the configuration problem in this discussion -- it has always been there. I found out that myself long ago when I tried to use libftdi-1.0. Then we go back to the issue with the libusb-1.0 infrastructure codes, yes it needs improvement -- for one async API is not used so that effectively it is similar to the libusb-0.1 code. So further abstraction may be needed. Andreas' work can be a good starting point. I am not a programmer so that I can not fix this. However, I think there will be people who can improve the current codes. I do not use the word "fix" since it is just a starting point so that it needs improvement. > I hope you understand that I may not be so motivated to fix a problem > which was created by someone else when I already spent a lot of time > on review in order to avoid the problem in the first place. > Of course I understand your point.
