This doesn't sound very encouraging for the project in general. :-( To be honest, I've been holding off adding new features till the base patches get merged. A few others have sent me emails asking me about support and status, but I just point them to the patch series on gerrit for them to compile on their own.
This is a big hurdle that's preventing others that wish to contribute moving forward. I must admit that I am starting to loose interest if the review drags on and who knows someone else might pick it up after me (the base 64bit patch was originally submitted in 2013 and picked up by me in 2015). FWIW, my team members having been relying on Openocd arch64 support for bootloader debugging and I've been using it for linux kernel debugging. Vicky Kuo added breakpoint, mmu support with http://openocd.zylin.com/#/c/2523/, and of course Peter Mamonov added mips64 support which is also based on the common 64bit target support http://openocd.zylin.com/#/c/1200/ David ________________________________ From: Andreas Fritiofson <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 22, 2015 2:49 PM To: Andreas Färber Cc: OpenOCD-devel Subject: Re: [OpenOCD-devel] 64bit Support - Long Term Plans On Wed, Jul 15, 2015 at 4:56 PM, Andreas Färber <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: Am 15.07.2015 um 16:05 schrieb Ellis, Duane: > Duane> Can somebody explain why the 64bit changes have not yet been merged > into the main line? The obvious answer is: For the same reason that no 32-bit commits have been merged since the release. Speculations: Lack of time, lack of maintainers, more testing desired? Part of the reason is that I have been more or less ignoring OpenOCD for the past 6 months, due to lack of time, and no-one else has stepped up and done the required work. I guess we're all busy. I still don't have the time to determine if this or any other patch is ready for merging. /Andreas ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This email message is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential information.
