I also would really love to see the reset refactor merged, and also my series http://openocd.zylin.com/#/q/topic:commands-rework but they are both quite invasive, carrying some risk. Today, breaking the master branch would be unaffordable, due to v0.10.0 being too old and everyone relying on the master branch. But we could take the risk and merge them quickly after a new release (e.g. v0.11.0), being more relaxed to fix any eventual inconsistency.
