Apparently there was a discussion as to whether this was the right
way to address the problem.

I, obviously, haven't followed that discussion and since I'm just
a humble committer :-) I'll respect that the list wants to discuss
this further before deciding on a solution.

I'll be happy to commit whatever solution to this problem that the
community is comfortable with.

At this point I believe that there is no need for a tie-breaker
and that the list will figure out the right way to solve this to
everybodys satisfiaction.

r1599 has the final version of the fix. Any non-glibc based systems will now correctly define environ as part of jim.c.
