I noticed that USB had some issues with the Rev B board. Does this
old Rev B board work well enough that we could just use a root file-system
in flash or memory.

How about the TinCans Tools "BeagleBuddy Zippy Ethernet Combo Board".
if we just apply the patches mentioned on their web page can we
boot a root filesystem via NFS. This has been the most comfortable
environment while fixing Xtensa kernel problems.
