ACK from me - I think it is time for a 0.5 release, and it should happen
before SWD gets into master.

Nothing fancy - just declare the current master as -RC, and see if any
critical bugs pop up during the next 2 weeks or so. I don't think this
really requires fancy "release management" - if noone steps up as
release manager, any release is better than none at all for >1 year.
