Greetings, friends, and welcome to the final ambassador report of 2016!

December was a fantastic month for our community. First, we held the
final #OpenOrgChat of 2016. Then we launched _The Open Organization
Leaders Manual_. And finally we published the ambassadors' working
definition of "open organization."

Moreover, we published 11 new articles, and our content generated 15,749
page views at Opensource.com.

As we turn our attention to 2017, let us stress once again how honored
and happy we are to work with such a wonderful community of thinkers,
writers, and practitioners. Here's to an ever more successful 2017!

In December, the open organization ambassadors at Opensource.com
published their working definition of "open organization," which they
composed and edited collaboratively for several weeks [1]. This project
was one the ambassadors identified as a high-priority task following
their in-person meeting in Raleigh at All Things Open.

On December 6, Opensource.com published the third book-length companion
to Jim Whitehurst's _The Open Organization_: _The Open Organization
Leaders Manual_ [2]. The 100-page book features some of our community's
best writing on open leadership, and it saw more than 1,000 downloads in
December alone.

And on December 1, the open organization commuity gathered on Twitter
for its final #OpenOrgChat of the 2016 season. The chat generated 187
tweets from 41 contributors, with 405,673 timeline deliveries. It had a
reach of 91,552.

#### {5} Looking Ahead ####
###########################

We'll be jumping into the 2017 already in motion, as we build on our
open organization definition and extend it into other areas of our work.
Columnist Jen Kelchner has proposed creating an "assessment" or
"diagnostic" tool for open organizations—one that leverages the open
organization definition to evaluate organizations seeking to open up.
More on that soon!

Laura Hilliger writes:

"I've been sprinting, sprinting, sprinting on the Greenpeace.org project
[1]. My remixed version of the Open Decision Framework [2] has been
integral to helping a team of never-worked-openly-before publish early
and often on all the goings-on in the project [3]. Want to get involved?
Comment on Medium, tweet with #gpp4 or just get in touch (I'm friendly).
Additionally, my co-op buddies and I [4] have been working on a brand
new email course called Badge Bootcamp [5], an "All the Things" wiki
that contains evolving info on the We Are Open Co-op model, and gearing
up for 2017."
