Welcome to the July 2017 Open Organization Ambassadors Report!
In July, our community published eight total articles, and three of them
arrived courtesy of ambassadors. Overall, open organization materials at
Opensource.com generated 15,290 page views. We also welcomed our newest
ambassador to the group: Jimmy Sjölund! Read more about Jimmy below.
Also in July, the Open Organization Ambassadors also released their
long-awaited Open Organization Maturity Model; it's a tool organizations
can use to guide their respective journeys toward greater and better
openness—a truly fantastic achievement for our community.
We hope you enjoy this edition of the report. Read on to learn about
the ambassadors' recent activities—and about how you can get involved
with the construction of the next Open Organization book from
Opensource.com!

#### {4} Monthly Highlights ####

In July, we welcomed our newest Open Organization Ambassador: Jimmy
Sjölund of Telia Co., Sweden's largest telco. Jimmy brings to the group
years of experience helping teams become more open and agile [1], and
his work on open organizations has been featured in both _The Open
Organization Field Guide_ and _The Open Organization Guide to IT Culture
Change_. We're thrilled to have him joined the group.

The Open Organization Ambassadors released the first version of their
Open Organization Maturity Model [2] on July 20. The model is a tool any
organization can use as it works to become more transparent, inclusive,
adaptable, collaborative, and communal. The ambassadors plan to iterate
on the model, and several are working to build new resources on top of it.

Also in July, we began initial planning for the next volume in the _Open
Organization_ book series from Opensource.com. As we did with the
previous volume, we're developing this book according to the principles
and practices outlined in the Open Decision Framework. We'll announce
the book as a community project in the beginning of August (see below).

#### {5} Looking Ahead ####
###########################
We're always looking for the next great open organization story—and our
publication queue could use a bit of love![1] Are you working on
something we might publish in August? Maybe you know someone who is?
Let's connect!

The ambassadors are currently reviewing and commenting on proposed plans
for the next volume in the Open Organization book series.[2] Now's your
chance to shape the book in its formative stages! Check out the proposal
and send your feedback. We'll be announcing the project publicly very
shortly.

Jen Kelchner writes:
"I did a Forbes video interview in July, where they are doing a feature
story on me. Then we did a short set of explainer videos on Open Org and
related principles—for the Forbes Councils education channel. They'll be
adding the link to our maturity model once released. The feature should
be published soon."

Robin Muilwijk writes:
"I'm currently researching and drafting a possible future program for eZ
Systems. (I work for this open source company part time as community
manager.) This program involves a combination of inner source (thank you
Jono, inspired by you), and also bits of the open organization. The
company has been around since 1999, and also lives by the open source
principles as of the start. As the company grows and changes with
current markets, trends, and technologies, I want to see if it pays off
to better implement inner (and open) source values (and through that,
also some core values from the open organization). I also sent OpenOrg
books to the Founder/CEO of the company this week."

{See you next time!—B)
