Hi folks,

The open organization community at Opensource.com is preparing for the
December launch of the next volume in the Open Organization book series:
a second edition of _The Open Organization Leaders Manual_.[1]

The new edition, in development since June, represents a dramatic and
important upgrade. Consisting of more than 20 chapters, the updated
manual is designed to assist open leaders with challenges related to
planning and goal-setting, organizational design and culture building,
and motivation and engagement.

Like all other companion volumes in the Open Organization series, the
book is a community-driven project developing in the open [2], and the
community invites your participation in polishing the book for final
release.

Want to help us proofread the book? You can do so in just five simple steps:

1. Visit the book's GitHub repository
<https://github.com/open-organization-ambassadors/open-org-leaders-manual/tree/master/second-edition>
and download a current set of book galley proofs
<https://github.com/open-organization-ambassadors/open-org-leaders-manual/blob/master/second-edition/open_org_leaders_manual_2_0.pdf>.

2. Review the project's editorial board
<https://github.com/open-organization-ambassadors/open-org-leaders-manual/projects/1>.

3. Check the "Typeset" column. Articles in this column have been typeset
but not proofread. Select a chapter you'd like to proofread.

4. Click the title of the chapter/card you'd like to proofread to load
that chapter's details. Leave a comment stating you're proofing the
chapter, or just notify Bryan <[email protected]> that you're doing it
and he'll udpate the board for you.

5. Proof your chapter. When you've finished, record your suggested edits
in the GitHub issue related to your chapter (or send them directly to
Bryan).

And that's it!

Note that we're pushing updates to the book galleys on a regular basis,
so you should periodically check to ensure you're working with the
current version.

And chapter authors: You can help too! Proofread a colleagues
chapter—and make sure your bio is correct!

We can't thank you enough for lending your expertise and skill to the
Open Organization Leaders Manual project.

Sincerely,
Bryan
