### Editor's Note ###

Happy Thursday, folks! Today we've published a great piece from
ambassador Heidi Hess von Ludewig, who explains the complex spectrum of
engaged work (from managed to enabled to empowered). Heidi suggests that
the goal of open leadership isn't, in all cases, complete and total
employee "empowerment," but rather encouraging the type of engagement a
particular task demands.

Sample social media:

Different types of work call for different types of engagement. Should
open leaders always aim for #empowerment? @heidiheidiheidi doesn't think
so: red.ht/2TjXowz #TheOpenOrg #leadership

"Before we jump on the employee empowerment bandwagon, we should explore
the important connections between #empowerment and #innovation. That
requires placing empowerment in context." red.ht/2TjXowz #TheOpenOrg

Any role in any organization involves these three types of work
occurring at various moments and in various situations: red.ht/2TjXowz
