  +Dear Author
+This is the last opportunity for you to proof your article before
+it goes into print. We've done a number of things to the article
+since you sent it to us, and we'd like to ensure that we have not
+introduced problems or errors. This is also a chance for you to
+catch any mistakes that may have eluded all of us to this point.
  +
+Checking the items below should ensure clean copy for the printer:
  +
+* Are there typographical errors? (spelling, punctuation, etc.)
+* Have all variable, keywords, and function names received the
  + special treatment typeface?
+* Our desktop publishing system may have combined the decrement
+ operator into a single dash. Has this happened to code in the
+ article body? (Listings receive a different treatment, so this
+ should not be an issue for code files.)
+* Are code and figure references in the text correct?
+* Has our editing left the technical meaning of your text intact?
  +
+Please proof the galleys carefully, then phone, FAX, or email me
+any changes you feel should be made, and the completed contract,
+at your earliest convenience, but no later than Tuesday, September 17,
  +2002.
  +
+Please fax back your completed contract and tax forms (1099 and W9 if not already
+on file with CMP Media LLC, or W8 for international authors) also by September 17.
  +
+Thanks for your cooperation. Please contact me if you have any questions.
  +
  +Sincerely yours,

+Sorry for the trouble we have to make you here, but there is this nasty
+mistake with the article preview version. As I said, the final version
+was from April 6th (our arranged deadline), but unfortunately you used
+an early preview version (from about two weeks before the deadline) for
+copy editing. And the final version is really(!) a lot different in
+style and contents because from my team engineers fixed technical points
+and a native speaker fixed most of my bad English, etc.
  +
+So, as arranged with you before on the phone, to now really make sure we
+use the final version for printing, I send you the article contents as
  +attachments.
  +
  +The two important corresponding hints:
  +
+1. For importing the data (I guess into QuarkXPress, right?) you should
+ use article.txt and the EPS files. Inside article.txt you find the
  + following tags:
  +
+ C<...> denotes code and commands. It should be typeset in a
+ non-proportional font (like Adobe Courier, etc.)
  +
+ I<...> denotes emphasized text. It should be typeset in italic
+ unless you emphasize text differently in your magazine.
  +
+ U<...> denotes URLs. It can be typeset however you want. It was just
+ added for the article.html generation.
  +
+2. The article.logo.png is a proposal for the article logo. Feel
+ free to take it over if you like it. It consists of the FreeBSD
+ (daemon), the Linux (tux) and the Solaris logo shadowed by the
+ OpenPKG (box) logo and this way is a symbolic hint to the OpenPKG
+ principle (a subsystem on top of FreeBSD, Linux and Solaris), as
+ shown in technical detail in article.principle.eps. It would be nice
+ if you would take over this.
  +
  +3. On http://www.openpkg.org/doc/articles/sysadmin/article.html you
+ see an auto-generated HTML version of the article for preview reasons
+ (mainly for the tables, etc). DO NOT USE THIS CONTENTS FOR COPY
+ EDITING. Use it just in case some markup in article.txt is not clear
+ and you want to double-check how the text style was intended, etc.
  +
+So, we await the next days to receive the article again in your PDF
+format after copy editing for final checking.
  +
  +Thanks.
  + Ralf S. Engelschall
