One thing I have found is that the version of ExternalEditor in the Plone-2.5.1 packaging doesn't work reliably (if at all) when using ZopeEditManager on MacOS X 10.4.8 (Tiger). I've removed that part of the installation here, and gone back to the old zope-externaleditor-0.7.2 package I had been using which works. When I posted a question about this on the Plone mailing list, it was suggested that going back to ExternalEditor 0.9.1, but the site for current EditManager sources is off-line due to spamming problems.
