Hi Anders, As described by Bertil, the use case for component restart for upgrade could be used for immnd upgrade also. For example, if user want to patch a critical fix in immnd, it is easy to upgrade only immnd by making component restart.
If you are ok to not support this use case, then we can proceed with the suggested fix. But I still dont understand what the upgrade of the IMMND would be for. /AndersBj -----Original Message----- From: Bertil Engelholm Sent: den 18 november 2013 10:02 To: Anders Björnerstedt; Nagendra Kumar; Hans Feldt; Hans Nordebäck Cc: opensaf-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: RE: [devel] [PATCH 1 of 1] amfd: Use correct CLC command to term/clean component [#104] Upgrade a component in this way can only be done if the component is "restartable". That's the only case where you can change component type and then initiate the "restart" admin operation on the component. Do we think we'll support such an upgrade for immnd (or any other central OpenSAF component). I think not. /Bertil -----Original Message----- From: Anders Björnerstedt [mailto:anders.bjornerst...@ericsson.com] Sent: den 18 november 2013 09:31 To: Nagendra Kumar; Hans Feldt; Hans Nordebäck Cc: opensaf-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [devel] [PATCH 1 of 1] amfd: Use correct CLC command to term/clean component [#104] I dont understand the question below. Is it ok for immsv service? I don't find any other way as of now to support it as we are anyway reading the configuration from immnd. When we stop reading the configuration in the future, probability suggested approach can be adopted. I don't think it has to be done like this. Why not do it as I suggested in the ticket and fix the "immnd admin restart" use case?
