There is a concern that OpenSAF is currently mis-using syslog by logging too
much during normal operation. Syslog is shared by everything running on the
node, and OpenSAF can easily become the dominant logger of syslog messages,
even though OpenSAF is not really the essential part of the whole system
(OpenSAF is there just to maintain HA - it is not there to provide any service
to users).
The expectation is that OpenSAF should log errors to syslog, as well as
notifications during unusual situations. However, OpenSAF should not log
anything to syslog during normal system operation.
The proposal is to introduce a new log file under /var/log/opensaf/, and to
move some of the log messages that OpenSAF currently logs to syslog into this
new log file.
