Just to be extra clear; MinGW (Minimalist GNU for Windows) at http://mingw.org/ http://prdownloads.sf.net/mingw/MinGW-5.1.3.exe?download and optionally also: http://prdownloads.sf.net/mingw/MSYS-1.0.10.exe?download Install MinGW to get gcc.exe that builds Windows binaries on Windows. Install MSYS to get unixish shell environment fairly good for running configure. MinGW and MSYS differs from cygwin in that they are merely Windows versions of programs, whereas cygwin aims at providing a unixish API on top of Windows.
