No, but unlike smart cards which have essentially been standing at the
same point for a decade, mobile phones evolve at at rate that hardly
any other device can match.

So it is only a matter of a few years before today's pricy kick-ass
phone is medium-range thing that most people can afford.

A more critical problem with mobile phones as "credential containers" is that
all efforts establishing a provisioning infrastructure so far have failed.

I'd hope that Android would make a difference but since the users of
the infrastructure like banks and governments do not fund or participate
in any kind of open development processes, it is essentially up to
individuals or the platform vendors themselves to fix this "deficit".
