Can't think of any, as long as te matrices are handled correctly. You're
welcome to try, I'd love to see a patch. ;)
Unfortunately for now I have disabled the entire merge op because it
seems to break geometry destined to be used on a cluster. I can't
publically share the geometry that is causing problems, but I am hoping
to get a chance to put something together to demonstrate the problems we
are seeing with the merge op.
