hmm, I'm trying to make sense of it. 

testSimpleSceneManager looks ok to me, at least for the values that are
recorded. I start to change things so that we can back to what we record
in 1.8 but this got a little bit bigger than I expected. Which is mainly
due to making StatCollector ref countable.

was this for your application or did this apply to testSimpleSceneManager too ?.
