Hi Aron,
Thanks for sharing this with the community. I'm working on the art path
with respect to this plugin and I hope you (or someone else) can answer a
few questions.

1) Lights are exported, but when we dump the scenegraph from OpenSG our
PointLights don't have names. Is this intentional?

2) Is there a way to associate which objects a light illuminates through the
exporter? (i.e. where it is in the scenegraph)

3) When using shader export, we get an error from OpenGL's shading
processor. Which happens once for each shader in scene.

        Fragment info
        -------------
        (46) : warning C7528: OpenGL reserves names start
WARNING: SHLChunk: link status: Vertex info

4) What is the recommended process for getting alpha blended textures
without using shaders? Traditionally, we would just provide a single texture
which contains an alpha channel. Doing the same doesn't seem to work, nor
does specifying a separate map for the opacity channel (as one would do for
exporting with shaders).

I'm documenting all processes I run into and will be making a small art
guide for the plugin (which I'll share here). So, any information regarding
the above would be great.

Thanks again

E.

Subject: [Opensg-users] 3ds Max to OpenSG Exporter

Infiscape has been been working on a 3ds Max plug-in that allows a
user to export 3ds Max scenes to OpenSG. It uses advanced GLSL shaders
to reproduce the high quality rendering in realtime. It currently
supports diffuse, normal, specular, environment, opacity, self
illumination, and reflection maps. We have recently decided to provide
a non-commercial trial download for 3ds Max 9.0 You can find more
information at:

Thank you,
Aron Bierbaum
