Sorry, but I didn't get it right. Is the framebuffer object part of some
of the OpenGL versions (e.g. 2.0) or is it merely at the extension level
(ARB, EXT vendor or single vendor specific)?

Would that be still be efficient for interactive framerates on 'high
resolution' full screen setups? Don't get me wrong, actually I'm lacking
experience in this domain. Therefore some insight is very much
appreciated.

What does that actually mean? Can't I use for instance the
PassiveBackground class?
