my best guess (without ever using VS2008 :-) is that you should try a
recent dailybuild (see http://www.opensg.org/dailybuild_logs/ for
those) instead of 1.8, since most probably VS2008 wasn't supported
when 1.8 came out -- it was a while back so I think VS2008 wasn't even
available then. In general, IMHO the best idea is to use a recent
dailybuild those are known to be pretty stable and a lot of bugfixes
and such have been incorporated since the release of 1.8. I wouldn't
consider 2.x to be ready for production usage, especially not now that
Gerrit started to push the refptr stuff to the trunk.
