One problem was that I build the original embedded version with Visual
Studio (as it was for Windows CE) so some of the options never made it
to scons. Scons handling of the MS tools is actually quite painful so
I never tried to convince scons to to the ce builds.

I did some changes later in my tree while playing with an embedded ppc 
based linux but these never made it out of there.
