Agreed. But it makes it way easier for new users (students (that might become professional users in the long run), companies that want to evaluate etc...) to download a ready to use package (msi, deb, dmg) and "just use it" than ask them to build the beast themselves. The intention behind this clearly is to attract more users to OpenSG and get rid of the first hurdle. For that reason, I think it's also perfectly fine to go just with the "main stream" here, so 32Bit Windows, Ubuntu and Mac should be perfectly fine. If you want to use OpenSG on 64Bit Solaris with the latest boost repository version, you're on your own. More advanced users can stand that.
