There already are Ubuntu packages for 1.8 in the official repos. I've got some private builds of OpenSG2 sorted, but not high enough quality for the repo's yet. I have been waiting for a release to be made to put the effort into doing this, so that people have the same version across multiple platforms (for those that write cross platform software) rather than different SVN versions.
