Hello.
I'm writing to inform you about a criticality of OpenSG 2.0: importing 3D
models exported from CATIA v5 in VRML requires much more time than using
OpenSG 1.8.
The problem is probably due to the particular structure of these VRMLs: the
node tree contains useless or redundant geometries (e.g. edges, borders)
and is composed by thousands of nodes and transformations. We know that
this structure is not optimal for 3d visualization with OpenSG, but with
these files OpenSG 1.8 preformances (especially loading time), anyway, were
much better than OpenSG 2.0...
We really appreciate, if it is possible, if you could check why OpenSG 2.0
has more problems than 1.8 in managing these type of VRMLs and try to
improve the performances in this sense... Thank you in any case.
If you need an example file, we could send it to you.
Best wishes,
Christian
