Unfortuantely it's a bit out of our hands, as it seems to be a problem with MLT (as the audio stuttering in melt proves). If you've got a small example file, you can attach it to this bug, which may help when the MLT team take a look at it.

I use mostly Raw-DV format but other formats (AVI, MPEG, VOB) has the same problem. This is with the 32-bits Ubuntu 9.04 deb versions, OpenShot version 0.9.22.
