On a side note, from what I understand, The Blink 3D arch (that is 
client-based, with very little going on on the server) uses xmpp to communicate 
object property updates between the clients. So, without diving too deep into 
the protocol, I’d venture you could do quite a lot with it, not only text 
messaging.
