I have an implementation of SLVoice.exe based on Mumble, running since a few
weeks now. It supports speaker indication, but it runs for now only on
Windows and does not yet support positional sound and private channels. The
code still needs some cleanup and documentation about dependencies and the
environment.
In the course of this week I am setting up an OSGrid OpenSim 0.7 region with
Mumble voice in collaboration with Dreamland Metaverse. It should be up and
running by next week.
The link for downloading the installer will be published here.
Hi Volker, the Mumble development could be useful if it leads to this
becoming something that can work on all platforms and be a solution
for voice in OpenSim that is well sported by the whole
community. Mumble does look like it can support much of what might
be needed for such an environment similar the commercial Viovox solutions.

FreeSWITCH works without any changes to the SL Voice.exe module in
the LL viewers or third party viewers, I assume by emulating some
layer that the viewer uses to use the Vivox services? Is that the
case? It would be good if we do not have to require users to install
anything at all on the client end to use Opensim with its voice services.
When you are ready, we would be happy to help test things on your
rid, or try the instructions for setup on a test grid in our Openvue
environment (which currently has FreeSWITCH voice running across
multiple servers and multiple regions fine. We think voice is an
essential element.
