uh? The Hypergrid supports "hops" preserving identity and inventory, independent of where those services are. It doesn't need a central ID/inventory service, but it can work with it too; it works with both.

What I'm saying is something else: people can now go into the business of providing identity and inventory services *only* -- i.e. no simulators -- for users out there who aren't sure which world to get an identity from.
