Agreed. People who want to live on the bleeding edge should be able to and, upon reflection, it's not unreasonable to ask that they be the one to jump through a hoop or two to do so. When mono 4.x becomes more widely distributed, the roles could be reversed, as I mentioned previously.

I think the greater concern, for me, would be if support for the older Mono versions prevents the OpenSim project from incorporating beneficial changes that only the newer Mono versions support. In that case, there's a tangible negative effect. I don't know that this is the case presently, however.
