Yet in Japan, exchange of labour between people who know each other socially is 
explicitly defined in law and declared tax free.  (You have to have been actual 
friends, or friends of a spouse, before the work was discussed.  It's taxable 
if you were specially introduced to do the work.)  We run into problems when 
users are from different jurisdictions.

And, you're in Australia, I'm in England, the mediation software was mostly 
written in the USA, we're discussing this on a mailing list hosted in Germany, 
and the OpenSim server may be anywhere in the world.  God knows how the various 
tax agencies would decide that one.
