I usually use rrdtools to track statistical data. It is suited for that
kind of thing. The json simstats for grid access uses the SHA1 hash of
the region secret as the uri to prevent unauthorized snooping. It also
provides a uri handler for jsonp - which will work to feed data directly
to the browser for javascript integration. That is a good way to get
more fine-grained updates for near-RT monitoring.

It would be good to have options whether to write the database at all

haven't had a need for that so far.
There's no security on the calls either which makes things a bit
difficult if you don't want to expose that information. The easiest way
to provide security may be to extend the path with a random UUID, as is
done for capabilities.

It also creates and uses an SQLite database, even if you use MySQL for
everything else. It currently only makes that
database in bin, though I may see if I can get that optionally
overridden, as I don't allow anything to write in bin.

It works from each region server (not from Robust).
Is there a way to limit access to them? (to local network, or to
authenticated user, for example)

it is still working (and i hope it will work forever)
See here: http://spacefriends.de/osgrid.htm
I use a frameset that calls all my regions like e.g.
http://83.169.10.234:9000/SStats/
The last slash is essential .. else the Knomes are coming for you ..

Is the information on
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Web_Statistics_Module still accurate?
It says to add a simple
section to your opensim.ini file and then view the stats on
http://<region-server-ip>:<http-port>/SStats/ but I get
no love when I try this so wondering if the page is out of date.
Thanks in advance if anyone knows the situation with Web Stats..
