James is right, I did make this change (a long time ago now) but forgot to update the docs. The wiki page has now been
updated.
In general, if the simulator does one thing but the docs say another then it's the simulator that's right and the docs
that must change.

Odd, we've been doing it without the avatars logged in for quite some
time. Perhaps the referenced documentation
