hi,

i am new to opensim and new to trying to set up a sim; i only have user experience with sims up to this point. i have one question to start with about the structure of a sim.

i notice the basic texture maps for a terrain is 256x256. i assume that is in pixels. i notice also that the size of a region is usually 256x256. that apparently is not in pixels. my question is what is the 'unit' of size for a region? or what is the relation between the texture map and the region size? is there an optimum ratio? can one make the texture map as large as one wants to increase the level of detail? (aside from performance issues).

thanks for any insight or pointers to documentation.
