I now have the windows msi installer building using the free VS2008
Express toolset from Microsoft.

I also have the rpm build working from the command line, but I'm not
sure if it works yet from the opensuse build service (OBS) because my
linux box system clock is about 9 hours fast at this point, so the OBS
won't let me build because the files I checked in are dated in the
future. I guess I'll know if it works tomorrow morning (sometime after 7
am!).

We should be getting close at this point. I can build an msi installer
we can post, and we can refer people to the published rpm and deb files
on the OBS. And of course, we can publish the tar.gz, as well.

It took me a while to get this stuff working because the autotools
system was a bit messed up - not bad, just the usual cruft that develops
over time. It still needs some work, but what remains can be done
between now and the final 2.0 release.

I've relabeled this release openslp-2.0.beta1 in configure.ac.

I've updated a few of the text files (readme, authors, news, etc) but
more needs to be done before final release.

I'll give you another update, and perhaps publish tomorrow afternoon, if
all goes well on the OBS.

John
