Patrick,
There are a number of reasons why you might only get the loopback
address - you haven't given me enough information about your
configuration to determine what your problem might be. For instance,
perhaps your network cards are not being registered by OSLP. Thus, it
only knows about the loopback addresses.
You may find you have to debug into the system to determine why your
particular problem is occurring.
Furthermore, you REALLY need to read the SLPv2 specification - RFC 2608
- - it will probably answer a lot of your questions about the way OpenSLP
works.
You can find it here:
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2608.txt?number=2608
OpenSLP follows this spec as closely as possible, but it's not perfect.
This is especially true where the unit tests are concerned. No one has
worked on these for some time now. I spent some time a while ago trying
to get them to work again (I didn't write them), but they were too
broken for me to get them back up and running again in the short time I
had to work on them.
Good luck on your thesis. If I CAN answer a question (without a lot of
research) I WILL, so don't let this reply stop you from asking...
:)
Regards,
John
