You could probably use the project file hierarchy from the alpha code base. Microsoft really should provide a wizard or something for backporting an existing VS 2008 project file set to VS 2005 -- for just the reason you mentioned. That consuming projects have not yet been updated. But they won't do it because it's not in their own (monetary) best interest to give anyone motivation to stay on older tools.
