Stephan

If your clients have already 'cached' the services they need, then they will
still be able to connect to them while the SLP daemon is offline. If they
haven't, then any client needing to find a service will not be able to find
it whilst the daemon is down.

cheers
Matt

Subject: [Openslp-users] archive huge slpd.log

Hi all,

I took over a suse linux enterprise server 9.3 which already runs some
years. Meanwhile the system is running out of free disk space on the /var
partition. One of the greatest files is slpd.log (216MB), so it should be
archived. Before I shutdown the slpd, I have some questions:

How do the registered services behave? Are they still reachable by clients
while downtime? In other words: Do the clients know the registered services?
One of them is xntp: can clients / other services synchronize or are there
any restrictions?

Tanks in advance,

Stephan
