Hi everyone, someone asked me how to connect shindig to your container and i think it's better to give a public answer: there is a simple example of a social network container, the name of the project is partuza.
You can find live example here: http://www.partuza.nl/ Details of the project here: http://code.google.com/p/partuza/ And author public post in this group here: http://groups.google.it/group/opensocial-container/browse_thread/thread/f383d88e518b50d7?hl=it# Install partuza is extremely easy but the lack of documentation and information could give you some problems. About Freebar container project, after this post i talked privately with Chris Chabot who gave me a couple of advices and we decided to continue the developing of our container changing a bit our strategy. Unfortunately in this period we did some low level changes to our Social Network and it took a week to update our container connection. We believe that by the end of july a first full featured version of our OpenSocial container will go live together with a small set of applications and an easy "how to develope applications for our container". I'll write a post here when we'll officialize our full, small, support to OpenSocial, On 26 Giu, 15:35, mukesh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi Stefano, > > Whether freebar.it provides any direct APIs to connect to it? > > warm regards, > Mukesh > > On Jun 15, 1:56 am, Stefano <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Hi everyone, > > Introducing myself, i'm Stefano Pochet, production manager of Nealab > > Technologies, italian company that managewww.freebar.it, the biggest > > social network made in Italy with half million users. > > Last week we correctly installed shindig and we correctly implemented > > the container, connecting Shindig to our social network data and > > implementing the canvas view, the application gallery and an xml > > fetcher to simply load new applications. > > Then we tested the system by uploading some applications from: > > - OpenSocial directoryhttp://www.opensocialdirectory.org/ > > - Ning open social directoryhttp://opensocial.ning.com/ > > - Hi5 > > - Orkut > > And we realized that the only applications working are the ones who > > don't use social data. > > All the applications using social data developed till now are built > > for a specific container and they don't work, or they don't allow > > access, to others containers(we also tested that these applications > > don't work in partuza live examplehttp://partuza.us.chabotc.com/). > > We have also investigated the code of some OpenSocial applications > > realizing that some applications explicitly block access from other > > containers (for example some requires "hi5 feature") and some others > > give a "bad request" error to any proxy call when the request comes > > from a different container. > > > The feeling is that the main part of the OpenSocial applications > > developed till now are written for a specific container. > > For this reason we have currently abandoned the OpenSocial container > > project and we believe that smaller social networks like freebar.it > > (networks that don't have a developers community and don't have > > numbers to attract new developers) have to wait some months, while > > hundreds of new applications OpenSocial fully compliant will be > > released, to think about the release of a social network container. > > Please correct us if you think that our opinion is not correct :) > > > If you would like to have a visit to our OpenSocial container feel > > free to directly contact me at stefano.pochet[AT]nealab.it ;) --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Implementing OpenSocial Containers" group.
