Although the gqview is not actively developed in the past one and half year,
there has no officially announcement the project is terminated.

Personnaly,I think gqview 2.0.4 is a very stable release, it will not spend
much effort to maintain it, and we are not going to ship it by default, 
this
will show as a optional package (which is same to Ubuntu)

Talking about the GUI, I'm not saying the gqview if better than gthumb. 
They are just
in two different style, gthumb is more a traditional gnome application, 
while gqview
gives more Windows like look and feel. I think we can give user choice 
based on their
preference.
